Do you have extra almonds in your cupboard? Do you have leftover almond pulp from making almond milk? This simple recipe will transform this pulp into delicious baked almond crumbs! You can substitute these baked almond crumbs for bread crumbs in any recipe.
Baked almond crumbs are a zero-waste alternative to store-bought breadcrumbs, which are commonly sold in containers with single-use plastic lids.
Baked Almond Crumb Ingredients
1-2 cups of almond pulp
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp Italian seasoning
1/2 extra virgin olive oil + extra for coating baking dishes
Instructions
- using a silicone brush, apply olive oil to the bottom of each baking dish
- add salt, Italian seasoning & olive oil to almond pulp and stir
- spread almond pulp evenly in 1-2 baking dishes
- bake at 350° for 20 minutes or until golden brown
- use that day, refrigerate or transfer to a mason jar and freeze for up to 3 months
Tips: You can experiment with herbs, spices & oils until you find the perfect flavor for your almond crumbs. You can add more seasonings after they have been baked, as needed. If you like a finer texture you can put the baked crumbs in a food processor. It’s possible to freeze almond pulp and then thaw it out before making these crumbs. You can use other types of nuts to make crumbs, too!
