Do you like to cook with ginger? It goes great in so many types of recipes such as those from Thailand, India & Japan. Ginger also goes great in cocktails & you can even make your own ginger ale. Did you know that you can actually grow ginger endlessly at home? It’s easier than you think. Once you have a few plants going you will find that you have more ginger than you could possibly use. You may find yourself giving it away to friends and family. Since you can grow it yourself, you won’t need to buy it anymore and will have an endless supply for cooking.

Another interesting fact about growing ginger is that the leaves are gorgeous. They look very similar to bamboo and can grow many feet tall. It can grow in very small pots or larger ones depending on how much room you have and how much you need to grow. Ginger can be a beautiful decorative plant for apartments and balconies. It can also be grown in the ground if you have a garden.

Instructions
1) purchase a few pieces of ginger
2) let the ginger sit in a dark room temperature place such as a pantry, cupboard or drawer
3) wait until the ginger gets little buds on it
4) place the ginger in a shallow dish of water in a window and change the water every few days
5) once the buds start to sprout transfer the ginger into a pot that drains and cover with soil, leave the buds above dirt level
6) water when soil is dry and watch ginger leaves sprout and grow
7) wait until stalks have grown 3-4 feet tall and then harvest the ginger by digging it up and rinsing it off. You should have more ginger root than when you started and can start the process again with what you dig up
