Baked apple chips are a healthy delicious zero waste snack that you can pack in your lunch or add to your favorite trail mix recipe.  The only ingredients in baked apple chips are sliced apples and a dash of cinnamon.  You can use any kind of apple you like and you don’t even have to core them first.

Ingredients
apples
powdered cinnamon

Instructions
1) wash apples, dry apples
2) slice apples into paper-thin rings starting at the top of the apple and working your way down to the bottom of the apple, there is no need to core the apple (the rings will have a star shape in the middle and that’s fine)
3) remove any seeds that are inside the apple rings
4) place apple rings on parchment paper-lined baking pans in the center of the oven with a little space in between them
5) sprinkle apple rings with cinnamon on one side
6) bake for 1 hour at 225°, flip apples, and bake for another hour or until crispy

Tips:  It’s not necessary to add sugar to the apples, but you can if you want them to be sweeter. If you do not like cinnamon you can leave that ingredient out.  The apple chips don’t have to be a perfect ring shape.  Broken rings and half rings actually taste delicious because they get the crispiest in the oven.
