Coffee brewed from a french press is one of the most sustainable ways to make coffee at home. French presses are available completely plastic-free & most can be washed in your dishwasher. The filter is reusable, which will save you money on coffee filters. You can purchase coffee in bulk at your local grocery store with a cloth or paper bag. It comes in a whole bean format or pre-ground for your convenience.
French presses can be used for more than just coffee. You can also use them to make espresso, tea & cold brew coffee. They come in a variety of styles and take up very little space on your counter or in your cupboard. If you purchase one that is double-walled it will keep your coffee hot for several hours as long as the lid is secured between pours.
French pressed coffee is incredibly portable & can become part of your travel & camping routine. Ever arrived at a hotel or relative’s house and found there is no coffee maker in the morning? Pack your french press and a small container of ground coffee next time & all you will need to add is hot water.
