Did you know that you can purchase mascara in a plastic-free container with a wooden wand? Like many women, I wear mascara as part of my makeup routine. As a little girl, my mother usually only wore two makeup products: mascara and lipstick. I noticed how pretty should looked when she wore mascara and it really made her eyelashes pop and more noticeable. Like my mother, I have sensitive skin and can only wear certain brands of makeup, or my skin gets irritated. For most of my life, I’ve worn the same mascara brand my mother wears because it works great. I know that if it’s gentle enough for my mother then it will also work well for me. On my zero waste journey, I have discovered that you can now purchase mascara that is packaged in a glass container that comes with a wooden or bamboo wand. After trying out a few different brands I finally found one that I love as much as what I used to buy in plastic. This mascara is very easy to apply and the wand is easy to clean. I like to do one thick layer usually after I have already applied my eyeshadow and liquid eyeliner. If you like your mascara very thick you can apply more layers, but I find that one layer is usually perfect for me.
