Looking for a healthy snack to keep in the car, take on a hike or pack in your lunch? Instead of buying a pre-made trail mix in a plastic bag why not make your own cranberry almond cashew mix from bulk ingredients? Making your own trail mix is incredibly easy! Simply take three reusable cotton muslin produce bags with you to the grocery store & fill each bag with one of these ingredients:
Ingredients
dried cranberries
raw almonds
raw cashews
Instructions
1) separate ingredients into 3 bowls
2) take a large mason jar and pour equal amounts of cranberries, almonds & cashews into the jar & stir
3) pour trail mix into smaller jars, silicone bags as needed
Tips: Another amazing ingredient to add to cranberry almond cashew trail mix is baked apple chips. You can also season the raw almonds and cashews and bake them in the oven. This will add more salt, smoke, or flavor to them. If you do not have reusable cotton muslin bags you can also use brown paper bags to collect bulk items at the grocery store. Paper bags allow you the option of writing the bulk item number directly on the bag. This prevents having to use a twist tie or label. Some grocery stores allow for a tare weight number which subtracts the weight of the bag, saving you a few cents at the checkout.
